Interpreting indicates the activity in general, our profession, whereas interpretation refers more to the specific performance of the interpreter. There are different forms of interpreting:
SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING
Simultaneous interpreting is for international events where guests speak one or more languages. The simultaneous interpreter translates the speeches of the various speakers in sound-proof booths and the participants in the audience follow the conference proceedings with earphones that have been distributed to them at the entrance of the congress hall.

CHUCHOTAGE INTERPRETING
Chuchotage or whispered translation is for events where there is a maximum of two guests who want to follow proceedings in their own language (which is not the language of the meeting).
The interpreter sits next to the participant and “whispers” the translation simultaneously into his/her ear. This service does not require the use of technical supports.
INTERPRETING NEGOTIATIONS
Interpreting negotiations is a blend of consecutive and chuchotage where the interpreter employs his/her capacity to assist participants in a trade negotiation or technical meeting.
CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETING
Consecutive interpreting is ideal for smaller meetings, for short speeches and presentations, in only two languages and with no technical aid or support.
However consecutive translations practically doubles meeting times.
The consecutive interpreter takes notes on a notepad while listening to the speaker and then translates the speech at set intervals.
Interpreters of INTERPRETI DI CONFERENZA have perfected their competence in taking notes, a special technique is required for the outcome to be successful.
SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION WITH BIDULE
This type of simultaneous interpretation is suitable for short events with a restricted number of participants and only two language in meeting rooms where the acustics and hence hearing is good, or else in special circumstances such as visits to factories or to places where it is impossible to set up sound-proof booths.
